Winter Visits in Northern California

by Guest Author 21 November 2017 13:25

California is synonymous with the sun and warm weather. However, there is more to California. There are places that have warm weather and places to enjoy a winter wonderland. Here are a few ideas for your winter festivities.

While some of the hiking trails do get closed off for the winter, you can enjoy so much of the park still. For instance, Half Dome looks amazing when it’s covered in snow. There are many places to stop to park and take pictures of the view or with loved ones.

The park is also home to the historic Ahwahnee Hotel. This place dates back to 1927 and is close to Yosemite Village. You can stay at the landmark hotel. They have great rooms, a bar, stone fireplaces, an amazing dining room, and so much more.

Yosemite Village has outdoor ice skating

Every year they create a flat sheet of ice for you and your family to enjoy. They also have a lovely fire pit with supplies to make s’mores and a warm hut to store your shoes. Nothing will be quite like ice skating in the beautiful Yosemite national park.

Lake Tahoe

This is a popular spot to vacation is perfect for anytime of the year. However, in winter you get the opportunity to enjoy nature and have a snowball fight at one of the many resorts in Lake Tahoe. Before you decide, you might want to think about which side of the lake you want to be on.

Skiing, tubing, and more

There are so many places to ski/snowboard in Northern California. One great place is Mount Shasta. They have 17 trails to go on during the day and 14 at night. That’s right; you can keep going through the night!

There is also Spicer Sno Park where you can take you little ones sledding. It’s definitely fun for all ages.

If you really want to go tubing, we suggest Soda Springs. They are set up for adults and children of all ages (as long as they can ride on their own tube). You can go for a day trip or plan a trip around it. Either way you will make a lot of happy memories.

Camp in the Napa Valley

Fall and winter are some of the best times to go camping in the Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. You can bring your own tent or reserve one their yurts (It’s basically a comfortable little house tent).

While there you can hike the trails, go horseback riding, or biking. All of these options allow you to enjoy nature and finally get a break from the fast-paced life in the city and enjoy relaxation far away from your worries and responsibilities.

Warm up with a wine tour

We all know that winter is cold in many places but you can warm up by a fire in one of the many amazing tasting rooms in Napa Valley. You can try something new with friends and family or give somebody you love a special date.

No matter which one of these you choose to do on your winter break (or weekend get-away); is here to help you along the way. Find the right place to stay, where to eat, and so much more with us.
