There is so much to see and do in the San Jose area. After sifting through some of their amazing activities, we have narrowed it down to a few places you should come visit.

Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum

This museum has been constructed in a way that you can not only view the pieces but see them in an order to learn the history as well. They have placed translations and historical references in there so that way you understand what you are looking at and from what time period it came from.

There are hieroglyphs, mummies, and more artifacts for you to view. If you want you can get a guided tour of what you are seeing.

Children’s Discovery Museum

Sometimes your children need a place to play and learn. This museum is the perfect place for that. Your children can use their imagination and explore all the kid friendly exhibits in the area. During this time you can either partake in the fun or relax a little while your children play in a safe area. There exhibits include historical and scientific themed areas for children to learn and develop great skills.

Tech Museum of Innovation

This place is like the Children’s Discovery Museum, but they focus technology. While there, people can build robots and other fun things. There are many exhibits to play with and learn about. It is a great place for all ages and experience levels. If you don’t know much about technology or have a lot of experience, you will love this place.

Japanese Friendship Garden

If you want to see a beautiful landscape and have some tea or time with friends, then this place is great. It is not completely authentic to the Japanese culture. The garden is often filled with people laughing and enjoying themselves. This is a great place to take pictures with your family or loved one.

Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph

If you want to view beautiful stained glasses and bask in the historical artwork of this building. They have choirs, symphonies, and other concerts for you to watch. It is located in the heart of downtown. The employees are friendly and helpful. This is also still a fully functional Catholic church. If you want to go to mass during your visit, this is a great choice for you to choose.

Plaza de Cesar Chavez

During the winter you can enjoy the Christmas lights. That includes many decorated Christmas trees and the locals taking in the sight. During many other seasons you can listen to music and a water fountain for playing and photo opportunities.

Winchester Mystery House

This house was owned by a widow who was very wealthy because of her husband and the money left from the Winchester guns. The widow was mentally ill and believed that she had to constantly have to keep construction going or she would die. Also, to keep the spirits at bay, she had the house built in an odd way that made no sense in order to confuse the spirits. Even though she is long gone, the home is open to the public. Come visit this odd house.

Things to do in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is an amazing place to visit no matter the time of year, even during the winter. They have things going on for you and your family to enjoy. There are some sites you should consider seeing when you visit Santa Cruz.

They have historical landmarks for you to see and experience. The biggest attractions in the area are the Boardwalk, the Mystery Spot, and surfing. Just in case you are wondering what these attractions are, here is a little more information.

The Boardwalk

This attraction is open all the time minus December when they close down for yearly maintenance. It is free to the public to come and walk around. They have rides and activities for all ages and games to enjoy.

Some of the big attractions, besides the rides, are the Casino Arcade, Neptune’s Kingdom, Buccaneer Bay Mini Golf, and more. You can play arcade games, mini golf, and laser tag. It’s the best place to create memories and enjoy the laughter of your family and friends.

Boardwalk Main Attractions

The Boardwalk has two historic rides: the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster and 1911 Loof Carousel.

The Giant Dipper Roller Coaster opened in 1924 and has had over 60 million visitors. It was built by the son of Charles Looff, who built the carousel in Santa Cruz. This roller coaster has been all over the media and chances are at some point you have seen it. With that in mind, maybe it is time for you to experience it.

The 1911 Looff Carousel is a handcrafted masterpiece created by Charles Looff. Each of the 73 horses is unique and 71 of them jump, while 2 stay still for your ride. This is also one of the only a few carousels that has a ring dispenser for you to have an extra fun activity while riding.

Both the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster and the 1911 Looff Carousel was declared by the U.S. Park Service as a Historical Landmark.

The Mystery Spot

You may have seen their fun bumper stickers on cars in your area; it is a yellow sticker with black writing. You should come see for yourself and see why so many people love visiting The Mystery Spot.

This place defies your perception of physics. You will feel like you are standing up straight but appear not to be at the same time. Thousands of people have visited and came up with theories as to why things seem different in The Mystery Spot.
