Later Marriages May Delay Need for Yellow Pages

by ShannonH 26 January 2012 06:48

Times are indeed changing. One of the biggest changes is Americans are waiting longer to get married.

A census study of 39,000 households showed that the median age for a first marriage in 2009 was 28 years for men and 26 for women—a consistent upward trend for both men and women over the past several decades. The median age at first marriage in 1950 was 23 for men and 20 for women.

They may be getting married later, but these couples still need a trusted source of information when they need to find a carpet cleaning company, a music store that sells xylophones or even the nearest cupcake shop.

For decades, couples have been finding the information they need in the Valley Yellow Pages.

Twenty-somethings have grown up with the Internet and email. They know how to find listings fast via search engines. But how will they compare businesses they need fast with so little information?

By relying on the trusted Valley Yellow Pages, shoppers can see a company's specialties as the company wants them presented—not as they show up in a search engine. They can compare the competing ads right there in black and yellow—get the hours, specialties, locations and more.

So, newlyweds, congratulations! And remember an important family tradition to help you through life—your Valley Yellow Pages.

Valley Yellow Pages Coupons

by ShannonH 26 January 2012 06:45

Everyone is looking to save money. In the era of Groupon and "Extreme Couponing," how can you compete?

By including a coupon listing with your Valley Yellow Pages advertisement!

Your stand alone advertisement is enough to make customers curious—and get that all-important first call, but by offering a one-time coupon or a series of coupons in addition to your ad, you'll be sweetening the deal.

If your business is an auto parts store, for instance, consider either a percentage off total purchase price or a free item. If you're a mechanic, entice customers with a free oil change or other diagnostic test. If you're running a restaurant, how about a free appetizer? Or, for added effect, try a series of coupons in the coupon section of the Valley Yellow Pages—here you can offer several different options to draw consumers searching for different things.

Catch their attention with the ad, lure them in with a coupon, impress them with your service and you'll have a customer for life!

Computer Errors Cost Money

by ShannonH 12 January 2012 09:33

You've heard the saying, "To err is human, but to really mess things up takes a computer." In other words, technology is a wonderful thing, except when it isn't. Error messages, down sites and computer glitches are all things that can stand between you and your customers if your only mode of advertising is online.

Think about it. If your website goes down for just one day, how much potential revenue is lost? How will you recoup that loss? Bojan Simic from Trac Research recently reported that when search engine Bing slowed down by just 2 seconds of response time, it lead to a 4.3 percent drop in revenue and usage.

Can your business afford that kind of loss?

With the Valley Yellow Pages, there are no such glitches. Your customers know just where to find you when they need you with just a flip of the page, whether your business name starts with A or Z or any letter in between.

Make sure your advertising includes a mix of online and traditional print, and you'll be in good hands. Don't trust your business to only the Internet. After all, things happen. Be prepared.
