As many of you may, or may not know, the city of Vallejo has served as the capital of California for small periods of time. There is a lot of history in this area and it is close to many attractions, as well as home to many attractions. Here are the top five places you might want to check out on your next trip.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

If you want to spend the day riding roller coasters and enjoying other rides, this is the place to be. They have many different types of roller coasters and they are adding Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, which will be opening in 2017.

They also have rides that will spin you around and a virtual ride as well. Not only can you enjoy rides, but they also have animals to see as well, including alligator isle and ocean discovery.

You also have a chance to get up close and personal with some of these animals. A couple of these encounters are swimming with the dolphins and riding an elephant. This place is so much more than rides. Where else can you experience so much in one park?

Empress Theatre

This Theatre has been through so many big events in California. That is partially why the outside is still original (Built in 1911) and the inside matches the 1930s era which was when it was redone.

Currently, they host lots of live music and shows for people to enjoy. You can also view and learn some of the amazing history of the Empress Theatre.

Mare Island

This island has some great history, including how it got its name. The island was named after a General lost so many things, but found his mare on the island and named it after the horse.

Later, the government used this island as a shipyard and has been used a place to film a few movies. Currently, the citizens in the area are trying to preserve the historic buildings. If you get a chance to visit this island, you will get to see pieces of histories.

Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum

This museum has many different galleries within it. Giving you a full picture of the area, its history, and so much more. The building it is in is well maintained. This attraction will not take all day to view, but you will leave with a history lesson that will make the area that much more interesting and help you feel that much more connected.

Vezer Family Vineyard

Whether you love wine tasting, are looking for a place to have a wedding, or a place for a special event, Vezer Family Vineyard is perfect! They have a gorgeous setup with a charming rustic view.
