Why Buy Local?
Spending dollars locally ensures that 1% of the sales tax is allocated to local funding. The funding generated is used to pay for police and fire protection, local health clinics, zoos and parks, and children’s education.
When purchases are made online or out of town, the tax dollars go to support services in other communities. Choosing to keep your dollars local guarantees the funding remains local which boosts the local economy and supports local services.
Buying local also protects jobs. Ensuring local dollars stay local helps to preserve funding for community programs, which in-turn secures employment and benefits for residents.
