Preparing for Winter

Fall Cleaning When the weather gets cooler and the leaves start to drop, it is time once again to give the inside and outside of the house a good cleaning. Fall is a great time to clean and store patio furniture, barbeques, and garages outside the home and wash down windows, draperies and carpet inside the home. Giving the house a good fall cleaning will tighten it up and get it ready for the colder months and sets everything in place just in time for holiday gatherings.

Take this time once again to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, chimneys, rain gutters and furnace filters.

What You Should Know

Adopt a pet Who can resist the love of a pet? Having a cute, furry, loyal companion is one of the joys of owning a pet. But before you rush into anything, make sure you are ready. Many pets will live up to 10-20 years, so make sure this is a commitment you feel comfortable with and you’re in it for the long haul. Pets require time and care each day, financial support, medical support and someone to watch them while you are on vacation. Too often, families are swept up by how cute the pet is at the store only to find out later they weren’t ready for the responsibility.

Knowing what is required upfront will ensure you are adequately prepared and your pet doesn’t end up in a shelter. But if this is something you embrace and are ready to tackle, visit your local Humane Society and start a friendship that will change your life!

Put It Away!

Home Organization Everyone loves an organized home but all too often, life gets hectic, things don’t get put away, new purchases don’t find a home and before long, clutter takes over. Perhaps you have piles of bills covering valuable counter space or it’s been years since you’ve seen your closet floor. If these sound familiar, it’s time to take back your home.

Home Organization doesn’t have to be difficult. Remembering to do a little each day will go along way. Storage bins, shelving, closet organizers and renting a storage unit are also good solutions. For more help and advice on how you can get your home more organized, visit our Home Organization Guide and start putting it away!
